Limited Edition of 60 Pieces

The deepest night is never without light.
Only in stillness do the stars reveal themselves.
Only in silence does gold begin to glow.

There is a moment between day and night when the world seems to grow still. The warmth of the fading sun disappears from the horizon, darkness slowly settles in, and, almost imperceptibly, the first stars begin to emerge. One by one, they reveal themselves against the vastness of the night sky.

The SCRIBO Piuma Hane Raden – Hoshikage captures that tranquil transition through the timeless artistry of Japanese lacquer. Created in Italy and brought to life in Japan by Maki-e artist Takayuki Hariya, the Piuma is finished in deep kuro-urushi, its profound blackness evoking the quiet stillness of midnight.

Across this darkness, delicate fragments of natural mother-of-pearl (raden) are meticulously inlaid by hand around the cap and barrel. Each fragment catches the ambient light differently, revealing brilliant hues of blue, green, and violet as the pen moves in the hand. Like distant stars emerging across the evening sky, they reveal themselves gradually. There is no fixed pattern to follow; instead, the raden invites the eye to wander, discovering new depths with every turn.

Upon uncapping the pen, another quiet expression of beauty is revealed. A delicate scattering of gold dust graces the grip section, its warm glow emerging softly from the deep black urushi. This luminous detail is reserved solely for the writer, a quiet reminder that the most meaningful beauty is often found in moments of personal reflection.

Every hand-applied layer of urushi, every fragment of raden, and every trace of gold dust reflects the patience and precision of Japanese craftsmanship. Paired with SCRIBO’s refined Italian penmaking, Hoshikage becomes a harmonious meeting of two traditions, united by a devotion to detail, individuality, and the written word.

To preserve this harmony, each pen is accompanied by a pen pouch made from kimono fabric, adding another touch of Japanese tradition to this special edition. The fabric offers both protection and a quiet connection to the enduring beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.
