There is a stillness to a lake at night.

The surface darkens to near black, yet under moonlight it reveals movement. Ripples catch silver light. Reflections shimmer and fracture. Depth hides beneath brightness.

Moonlit Lake captures that contrast.

The base is a deeply saturated blue-green, resting between dark teal and midnight pine. In finer nibs the cooler green-blue character is most visible. In broader applications it deepens dramatically, appearing almost black while maintaining chromatic depth beneath the surface.

At pooled edges and heavier strokes, an intense dark red sheen blooms across the page. The contrast between cool base and warm sheen creates a layered, lacquered effect, particularly on coated papers.

Suspended throughout is a rare multi-tonal shimmer that shifts between green, gold and blue under changing light. It sparkles like moonlight scattered across water, enhancing the ink’s presence without overpowering the base colour or sheen.

For 2026, Moonlit Lake retains its exact colour, sheen and shimmer profile, now produced using our refined formulation and larger batch process:

The shimmer disperses more evenly and remains suspended longer, while the high saturation base now presents with improved clarity and more predictable sheen development.
