Japan's first arched stone bridge, "Meganebashi", spanning the Nakajima River in Nagasaki City, was built in 1634 by Zen priest Mokushi Nyojo of Kofuku-ji Temple.
The bridge is 22m long, 3.65m wide, and 5.46m high above the river surface. It is said to have been named after the two circles reflected on the river surface that look like glasses.
